KUKBO RESTAURANT

When we hear the word Korean or simply Korea, the first thing that pops into or mind is kpop. As kpop culture has become widely popular worldwide but apart from that, there is one thing that really makes its name big all over the world. And it is called “the Korean cuisine”. Korea was blessed to be having a rich different varieties of food that really is mouthwatering when you saw it. Not only that, Korea is also known as one of the countries that serves healthy dishes. So don’t be surprised when you saw Koreans having beautiful skin and body as it is a nature of them.

Since we are a fan of Korean shows and its rich culture, we decided to try their cuisine. We spotted an authentic Korean resto at Manggahan, General trias, Cavite which is near at my place. Its name is Kukbo restaurant. As we enter the place, we were amazed by its table set. The typical Korean restaurant with table having a grilling pan at the center really makes it a Korean. As we look into the menu, we decided to order samgyeopsal and bibimbap.

Sampgyeopsal or pork belly meat is a popular dish in korea where it is served with different kinds of side dishes. We were so surprised because we thought that samgyeopsal is only composed of meat and one kind of vegetable but apparently its not what we think. There are lots of side dishes that was served to us and we really don’t know what are those called. Most of the side dishes are vegetables but as we taste it, it's really delicious. We especially like the potato balls with a sweet taste and the chili tuna.Together with that, they also served a some kind of soup with bean sprout and tofu which has a familiar taste that we can’t remember.

Next is bibimbap. It is a mix of different vegetables, pork, fried egg, and chili pepper paste. It is said to be one of the signature dish of korea. It is served in a big bowl which we didn’t expect that big. Its actually a healthy dish and taste good. It’s just that we can’t finish it all.

Overall, we were satisfied by the food that we ordered as it really made us full. Samgyeopsal is now our new favorite dish.  We will definitely come back next time to try the others in the menu.

IPPON YARI RAMEN HOUSE

“Authentic Japanese Foods in Cavite”

"Irashaimase" as the crew will cheerfully greet you upon entering the restaurant. The foods, people and ambience really were fantastic and authentic Japanese. The wait staff were polite and approachable. Super yummy foods!!!

Ippon Yari Ramen House is a Japanese restaurant located at FCIE compound in Dasmarinas, Cavite. It serves authentic Japanese food with its Japanese ambiance. The restaurant is usually pact with not just Japanese but Filipinos customers as well. It ranked as the 2nd of 18 restaurants in Dasmarinas City’s Restaurant. The location is good because it is near where Japanese Factories and Companies are located. It is also easy to locate inside the FCIE compound because as soon as you enter the compound you can clearly see the restaurant and you can immediately identify that it is a Japanese Restaurant not only because of its name but also of the restaurant’s look.

You'll be greet (In Japanese) by the Waitresses as soon as you enter the restaurant. The waitresses and staffs are friendly and accommodating. They will assist you with enthusiasm and they are approachable as well. And oh! Their name tags are written in Japanese (Katakana) also. The Waitresses and staffs are all Filipino, you won't have difficulties. We actually had a small chat with the waitress that assist us. Since this is our first time to enter a Japanese restaurant, it is interesting. We can't even stop looking around the place.

The interior is Japanese like and the ambiance as well. They have a smoking and non-smoking area but the ambiance is quite different. There is also a place that you have to remove your shoes like what Japanese do. They also have televisions where you can watch shows which is in Japanese as well. You will actually feel that you are in a Japanese Restaurant right away as you enter. Since we choose the spot where we really want to feel the Japanese ambiance, it’s a bit warm because the air conditioner was far from our spot.

Their most recommended food was their Nagasaki Champon Ramen which is a noodle dish from Nagasaki, Japan inspired by the Chinese cuisine. It is compose of fried pork, seafood, vegetables and of course, Ramen. It’s a comfort food that literally comforts you. Waiting for the food to get ready is not a problem. They only took 15 minutes (which we really didn’t notice how long we waited since we are chatting with each other) to get ready. The presentation of their food is nice which make the food looks appetizing. The taste is superb and very Japanese like. It was the one of the most delicious ramen we have tasted so far.

The other dish that are often get ordered is their Ebi Tempura. Tempura was one of the most popular and known Japanese food in the world. And among tempuras, shrimp tempura is the most common. That’s why we ordered it. We were busy chatting and tasting the ramen so we didn’t really notice how much time it took to be ready. Like the Nagasaki Champon Ramen, Ebi Tempura’s appearance is also good. It also comes with a sauce. Since it was our first time tasting tempura we can’t compare. But the taste is good also! When eating a tempura, you have to dip it into some kind of sauce which we don't know what it is called.

And the last dish we ordered is their Mix-ten Okonomiyaki. Whenever we watched a Japanese show like anime, we always hear the word Okonomiyaki so we think that it is a "must" to order it when eating in a Japanese restaurant. Okonomiyaki is a Japanese pancake that has a variety of ingredients that is a mix of vegetables, and seafood. It is also topped with mayonnaise and for some reason we can’t explain its taste. It was actually our first time seeing an okonomiyaki so we’re like “oh so this is what it looks like!” We have a taste of it and it was good.

The restaurant is superb, from the service, ambiance and food. We can say that this restaurant is a “must-go” if you want to try authentic Japanese food with affordable prices!
